Hi Creative Friends,
Gwen here today to share my latest project and it’s another with the beautiful ‘Midnight’ collection. I’ve had this black and white photo printed for some time now of my daughter and I on a Mothers day many many years ago. It’s one of those photos that means so much more to me than what you see… and to be honest, I find these the hardest to scrapbook. I knew the ‘Midnight’ collection would be perfect for it, so I pushed aside the self-doubt and got to memory keeping!
I began the page by deciding on my background. I just love the Shine Bright pattern paper, the white woodgrain is the perfect neutral base for any project. Next up, I decided on a cut file, this one from my latest CUT to YOU release called Flower Circle. I cut the file as large as I could to use as a background feature for my page. I often do this when I’m not sure where to start with a project and let the cut file guide me in terms of the design of the page.
Next up, I went about backing the file. To do this, I’ve used the 8×8 paper pad, if you get one thing in the collection, I would recommend this! You get every pattern in the collection and they are in a smaller format to the 12 x 12 pattern papers which makes them perfect for backing cut files. I love how even though my pieces are quite small, you can still really easily see the pretty pattern. I’ve also used the ‘Shine Bright’ B side which is this perfect ombre pink *swoon* to back the central flower pieces in the cut file. They break up the white on white and really feature in the centre of the layout.
Next, it was time to position my photo, I’ve popped it in the left-hand side of the cut file and then trimmed around the outer edge keeping with the circle edge. Once I was happy with the photo and cut files position, I pulled out my sewing machine and added some stitched details. If you’ve seen my pages, you’ll know I just love adding stitching for a subtle and pretty detail. Next, I’ve added in my title from the ‘Die Cut Cardstock Titles – I’ve added some foam tape underneath for dimension.
All the page needed now was a few smaller embellishments. I’ve added in a flair button from the ‘flair pack’ that says “Hello Lovely” as well as three of the pretty black and white butterflies from the Accessory sheet (also mounted on foam). I’ve also added in a few sentiment stickers and a die-cut ephemera pieces that says “Sweetness”. I also found a chipboard tab in the ‘Chipboard Pieces’ pack to add above my photo.
Thanks for popping by today, I hope this page inspires you to grab some of the beautiful ‘Midnight’ collection and get creating!
Until next time,
