Hello there! Thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Each day, I give thanks for my two little ones. They often remind me to be grateful for the little things I have in life that I fail to notice. My little girl loves to pick blooms when we go out for walks and offer them to us. In her eyes, they are the best gifts ever. So I thought I will create this page to remember how sweet she is:
I spent quite some time on this page, but found it to be totally worth every second! What I did was to lay out all my Cocoa Vanilla Studio papers from the Sugar & Spice and Flying High collections and settled on those that will create a rainbow effect for me. Next, my bits of paper were cut into rectangles and pieced onto a white background. Then came the therapeutic part – hand stitch the patterned papers onto the background, using embroidery floss in complimentary colours. I found it fun to leave a few pieces unstitched and to ruffle the sides of some after stitching. Just to shake things up a little and to create additional dimension and texture. Finally, I tore a piece of cork patterned paper and placed that on the bottom to anchor everything.
Once I was happy with the background, I went on to layer all those gorgeous blooms found in the Sugar & Spice sticker sheet on this page. I could not resist adhering each embellishment on gold paper and black cardstock so they will pop against the colourful background. For the title, I used a die to cut the word “thanks” and completed it with the word sticker “girl”.
The page was completed with some wood veneer flowers, cork hearts and journaling, all framed in black.
So happy with how this page turned out and glad I took the time to hand stitch. I hope this inspires you to create something with loads of colours and stitching too!
