Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here with you today sharing my first layout with you featuring the new Happiness collection. Wow! Is all I can say about this amazing collection. The florals and colours are just beautiful – so bright and vibrant, it was so hard to choose what I wanted to use for this layout.
The subjects of my layout today are my two kiddies. This was a recent photo taken of them at a family wedding and although they are both not looking at the camera I still love it.
I chose to use the ‘Expressive’ patterned paper in the collection as the main feature on this page. I cut a strip a few inches in width and adhered that vertically to the centre of the page. I then machine stitched around the border on either side of the strip for some added detail.
I was inspired my a floral circle ephemera piece white I used to layer under my photo. I then built my embellishing around the small photo that I am documenting. The floral clusters provide a design similar to a laurel wreath. I made sure to add the different pieces to the page with foam adhesive for that added dimension.
Another feature on this page is the gorgeous heart banner cut file from Cut to You by Created by Gwen. I used the reverse of the ‘expressive’ paper to back the heart design. I love how the pink really pops against the white cut file and white background of the layout.
To help balance our the leaves design I added a couple of smaller embellishments like floral ephemera and clear heart shaped stickers. I think I could have a whole pack of just heart shapes. Don’t you agree?!?
I also added a small cluster of die cut ephemera pieces to the bottom of the page. This helped to balance out the top heaviness and also gave me a section on the layout to add my journaling.
The journaling is short and simple but is able to tell as much of the story as needed to be told. The typewritten form makes it easy for me to add my family’s stories to my layouts without me worrying about what my handwriting may or may not look like.
Below is a final glimpse of my layout. Thanks so much for stopping my the Cocoa Vanilla blog today. I hope you have felt inspired.
