Hello lovelies, today I have one of my fave techniques to share, sewing! I always sew on my layouts, my sewing machine always threaded and ready to go. Today however I decided to create some cards with hand stitching. Although hand stitching is more time consuming it is so worth it.

I have used the a mix of Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections to create my cards. I have created two butterfly cards and one pop up and twist card.

I have used a butterfly cut file for my butterfly cards. I have cut one from the Darling Buds paper and the other from the Gypsy Heart paper (from Bohemian Dream collection). I have used white cardstock as my base.

I have used back stitch to stitch around the edge of my butterflies. I used a paper piercer to create my stitch holes and spaced them evenly by eye (I don’t tend to measure a lot !!!!).

As you can see the hand stitching creates a wonderful texture and height. I have used Life is Beautiful Ephemera for my word sentiments, loving the navy against the floral and light blue papers.

I did choose matching floral blooms from each of the collection ephemera packs (More than Words and Bohemian Dream). I finished off both with a die cut heart, which I attached with foam tape and lastly a light splatter of black color shine.

These cards are simple but beautiful and probably too pretty to give away!!!!!

If you are wanting to create a card a little more challenging with more detail how about a pop up and twist card. Lori Whitlock has fabulous cut files to create these cards. I cut my base in white card stock and then used More than Words collection. I chose the beautiful Sketch book paper for the cover of the card and the inside flaps. Using 6×6 paper pad cut three butterflies varying in size from the sketch book paper and another from Gossamer paper.I then machine stitched my butterflies together. I used a sentiment sticker from Accessory Stickers and finally added a heart from the Chipboard Accent Stickers and again finished off with a splatter of black color shine.

I used noteworthy paper for the four round squares. I have back stitched my sentiment LOVE, again I used a paper piercer to create my lettering. The hand stitching really creates a lovely effect. I finished the inside of my card with some butterfly die cuts, chipboard heart, flair and die cut word banner. For it to fold flat you have to keep in mind the embellishments you are using or it won’t close flat.

Sewing on paper can be a little daunting to start off with, so start simple and small, back stitch, sewing elements together on your sewing machine as I did with my layered butterfly. It really is worth the time.

Thank you for stopping by today and see you again soon.
