Hey everyone,

Raquel Bowman here sharing with you a new layout I made with the current collections ‘Sugar & Spice‘ and ‘Flying High‘. This is the first layout I have created where I combined the collections, but I think this combination goes together beautifully.

Layout title: Oh Boy

Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Flying High; Little Man Patterned Paper

Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Flying High; Cork Stars

Other: white card stock, sewing machine, white thread, typewriter, doily, blue peg

I love the yellow and cork tones in the ‘Sugar & Spice’ collection and the ‘Blues’ in the ‘Flying High’.

The layout is documenting my shock of how quickly my little man Jack, now 8 months, has grown up. He was never a ‘baby’ for long, and has grown quite quickly from around 3 months of age. Since then, everyday he just seems to be bigger and bigger. In this particular picture (taken at 7 months) he was getting good at sitting unattended and just looks like a big boy. He’s not my little little baby anymore! The accessory sticker text ‘oh boy’ was a perfect title for this! Because it is exactly what I say and how I feel sometimes when I look at him.

I chose to use a grid design on this page of nine 3″ coordinating squares, teamed with embellishments flowing in a diagonal direction.

Most of the stars on this page were cut from the ‘Super Star‘ patterned paper. I did not want to include red or orange which the paper features, so it meant cutting the middle out of some stars and leaving only the outline.

oh boy-3 I love thinking of alternate ways to use the journal cards paper. Here i have cut out a label and a strip of stars and turned them into a little layered feature. The ‘cute stuff’ sticker from the accessory sheet was perfect and matched the colouring of the page too.

I loved adding the cork stars. They coordinate with both collections and add a different texture to the page. I also add staples to both secure things but also as another textural element.

I hope this page has inspired you to have a go at mixing the two collections on a page 🙂
