Hey there lovelies!
Jess here, and I’m beyond excited to share my first layout using the brand new Happiness collection. This collection lives up to it’s name because its so fun, vibrant and happy! Today I want to show you, that while the collection is full of lots of gorgeous florals and butterflies, it’s also very versatile and you can use it for funky, cool mixed media pages as well! When I saw the woodgrain paper I absolutely had to use it as my background. Woodgrain paper, while simple, still adds texture and interest to your page. The first thing I did was splatter watercolour paint in two coordinating colours on my background, concentrating the most splatters where I would be adding my layers.
I then played around with layering papers from both the 12×12 sheets and the 6×6 pad. I also layered some Ephemera frames between the papers. I always use foam tape for my layers as it adds dimension and really makes everything pop!
Next I added my photo and an ephemera rosette. To add dimension to the rosette I placed a flair button in the centre.
I then added a die cut title using foam tape to finish off my layers. As I wanted the ‘happy’ die cut word to be the main focus, I used small alpha stamps for the word girl and used a subtle arrow clear sticker to point to it. This draws the eye to the word but does not take all of the focus from the main part of my title! One of my favourite products in the happiness collection is the watercolour style clear stickers. They are PERFECT for layering over my watercolour splatters and really look like I painted them myself! I always make sure I tuck a couple into my layers as it gives it a more authentic look!
Lastly I layered some strips of paper, cotton, clear stickers and a word sticker to the bottom of my page. I love adding cotton thread between my layers as it adds texture and dimension without being bulky.
There you have it, my very first Happiness layout! What will you create?
