Raquel Bowman here and today I am sharing with you something a little different. I had a special little lady who has a birthday coming up so I decided to gift wrap her little present and create my own card using the lovely Sugar & Spice collection.
Here is the gift all wrapped up and decorated with the lovely Sugar and Spice Papers.
Other: white card stock, vellum, Avery Elle Tag die, doily, EK success border punch, white string, American Crafts die. white peg.
I created the decorative wrap by adding strips of the patterned paper in varying widths. On the b side of the Dot to Dot Paper I used a doily edge punch to add a little interest to the strips. Adding a layer using a doily created a nice softness to this wrapping.
The Tag was created using an Avery Elle die. I used this on plain white card stock but added a nice pop by cutting the reinforcing hole from the Dot to Dot paper b side. I also cut a tag from vellum, another layer to add that softness. The bow was also created with a die and I mixed it up a little by using both sides of the paper. The bow teamed with 2 stickers from the accessory sheet and a white peg were the perfect finishing touches.
To accompany the gift I decided to create a birthday card too. The Journal Cards paper was my jumping off point for this. I thought the beautiful girl sentiment was super sweet and added the stamped #happybirthday to the top of it so it read ‘Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl’.
The messy stitching adds a nice little texture to the card.
Of course the card wouldn’t be complete without a little hint of vellum.
I was in the mood to create following this and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to demonstrate a card using the same design in the Flying High Collection. I’m sure I will find a little recipient to give it to.
Would you like to complete a card like this at home? Here is what I did.
Sugar & Spice Card
1/ Create a 4×6″ card base in landscape rotation.
2/ Cut the Garden Party Paper (floral side up)11×9.5cm and adhere centred to the card.
3/ Cut the Perfect Posies Paper (pink dot side up) 10.5x7cm and messy stitch along the longer side. Adhere as pictured.
4/ Cut a 13.5×5.5cm piece from plain vellum. Cut into a banner.
5/ Cut a 11×3.5cm piece from the Garden Girl Paper (yellow side up) and adhere lightly to the centre of the vellum flag. Stitch through the middle and adhere to the card as pictured.
6/ Cut the ‘beautiful girl’ sentiment from the Journal Cards Paper. Adhere it to the card with foam tape.
7/ Finish the card with a stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment using a thin foam tape.
To create the Flying High card, follow the above steps and measurements using the collections papers as pictured below.
I hope you have enjoyed my post today and feel inspired to create some cards or gift wrapping using these two gorgeous collections.
