Hey there Lovelies, Jess here today with a fun Happiness collection layout to share with you. This week on the Cocoa Vanilla blog is all about patterned paper backgrounds! Using a patterned paper background can seem a bit intimidating, but I promise you it can look fabulous! For my layout I chose to use the gorgeous Expressive paper as my background. One way I like to add depth to a coloured patterned background is by creating ‘ink blots’ using a watercolour in a few shades darker than the background paper.
After adding my ‘ink blots’ I started layering over the largest one first. I added a ‘Cut To You’ cut file heart background (which I cut up) boarder along the edge. I then layered different sized strips of Little Things, So Fresh, Botanical Bliss & Good Vibe papers. Before placing my photos I added a Die Cut Ephemera wreath frame. I love how it brings the eyes focus to the photos! I also added a little cluster using a Die Cut Ephemera butterfly, an Accessory Sheet butterfly & a Flair Button.
Another thing I LOVE to do is layer Clear Stickers on all my different layers! They add so much dimension and interest without taking away the focus from the photos!
I adore the midnight blue word titles in the Happiness collection. They really pop against all of the bright colours. I used the Clear Stickers ‘fun moments’ title, because dressing your pupper up as a unicorn is definitely a fun moment!
Lastly I added a smaller cluster to the opposite side of the larger one. This adds a nice balance to the page. I layered more of the same papers, ephemera, stickers & cut file that I used on my main cluster. I also added another Flair button, because who doesn’t love a flair button!
And there you have it! I hope you are inspired to use some patterned paper for your background!
