Hi CVS friends! I know we’re a week into 2018 but it’s my first time on the blog this year so I have to wish you a Happy New Year!! Hope you had a fantastic time celebrating! I had a quiet one at home (Zack went out with friends!) and scrapped my little heart out all night and even made it to midnight! 😉
Today I’d like to share my latest page using the stunning Bohemian Dream collection!
I’ve said this before but I absolutely adore the floral paper and I’ll come up with any excuse to use it on my pages so it was my starting point for this one.
I cut my title using my Silhouette Cameo (using 3 different fonts to mix it up a little) out of white cardstock and two patterned papers, Abundant (both sides) and Wild & Free. The white cardstock is slightly thicker (to create a outline) and also just the outline border. For the top two lines of my heading I layered the pattern paper words directly ontop of the white words but the bottom has the white outline ontop of the pattern paper.
Once the title was put together I started putting the page together. I picked out a few matching mists from my stash and added drops on the page so that the colours matched up with the title ontop (blue with blue, pinks with pinks, etc). I’ve a love/hate relationship with mists – especially when I use more than one colour. You can bet there is always one drop that goes where I don’t want it to, ha! Which means a re-do. And yes, I had to do the background more than once…
I centered my title down my page and layered the photo at the top but it meant I had a lot of white space at the top of my page, so to match in with my title I added more of the floral paper but instead of just adding a border at the top, I folded down one corner and put the paper underneath. Such a fun way to add more pattern/colour plus it adds a bit of dimension to the top of my page!
Because of the large title there isn’t a lot of room on my page for journaling I had thought I would just add it behind my photo (type it up on a tag and tuck it behind) but after playing around with the die-cuts I settled on using the little tag on the right side and have put the jounaling on the back of my page instead! Printed onto one of the 6×4 patterns from Beautiful Mess paper.
To finish off my page I added some of the enamel shapes around my title (that match in with the floral paper..again haha) and added a couple of the word stickers underneath!
I’m am really happy how this one finished up – I love the bright colours and I used my mists again (I don’t use the “messy” things enough – but I’m hoping to change that this year!). Plus I love, love, loveeee that floral paper. It’s just so pretty and I can promise you I’m hoarding every.single.scrap.piece of it!
I hope this might inspire you to get out those mists/paints/etc that don’t use often and put them on your page too! And if you found yourself sneaking some of the floral paper onto your page, well, that wouldn’t be a bad thing either 😉
Take care, Em xo
