Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen sharing more Christmas inspiration with you today!  I love Christmas, I really do and I love scrapbooking our Christmas memories.  Today I am sharing this sweet photo of Miss 9 at last years Santa photo session.  She is getting to be a ‘big girl’ now and as we were standing in line for our photo, she noticed Santa asking the other children to put their hands on their heads to create Reindeer antlers.  As she stood there, trying to be all grown up, she kept saying, “I am sooo not doing that Mum, that’s for little kids”.  To my surprise, when it came to her turn, she followed along with Santas request and I have the darling photo to prove it.

Sweet You XMAS.jpg

This fortnight, we have been set the challenge to create a Christmas project with NON-Christmas supplies.  To begin, I sorted through my stash in the hunt for Red and Mint, the two boldest colours in my photo.  I found the Hello Lovely Glimmer paper which was a perfect match for the Mint, as well as the Make A Wish Daydream paper which I have used for my photo mat.  The Red, however, was much harder to find, so I pulled out a bright Christmas red in cardstock from my stash.

I also then searched through my stash of cut files and found this one, by Neat and Crafty which again, is not a Christmas theme cut file but I thought the bows were really nice and would represent presents.  I ended up cutting the file out three times, once in bright red and twice in white cardstock.  At this stage, I wasn’t sure which direction I was going and for me, options are always good to have!  It was at this point I did a whole lot of shuffling, in the end deciding on the white.  I then went about backing the bows in various colours in the paper mentioned above.  I then took the extra white version I had and trimmed off some single bows with my scissors and backed those as well. My plan was to mount them on foam for added dimension and layer them over the top of the main cut file.

I then thought it was all looking a bit plain, the cut file was blending into the white cardstock background.  So, I added in the red version of the cut file as a layer, with only small portions of it showing, almost like an outline. I love how it really helps bring the page together.

With that all in place, I went about placing my photo and finding my embellishments.  I just looked at all of the collections for things that would fit.  The words “Best Ever” have come from the Make a Wish Accessory Sticker Sheet and the typed sentiments have all come from the Love Always Accessory Sticker Sheet.  The “Special Memories” and “So Sweet” sentiments, as well as the love hearts, are all from the Sugar and Spice Accessory Stickers Sheet (an oldie but still one of my favourites). I’ve also added a couple of puffy heart stickers from the Endless Summer puffy sticker pack and sequins from my stash to finish.

The title “Sweet You” is from the Wild At Heart Collection Wood Veneer Words pack.  I have used embossing powder from my stash to turn them the perfect shade of Christmas gold.

I have kept the embellishments pretty simple as I didn’t want to take away from that background I had spent so much time creating.  A few small clusters and the page was complete.

Thanks for popping by today, it’s now your turn to create a Christmas page, which we would love to see you share on the Community FaceBook group!

Until next time,

Pink or blue? That is not even a question for me. I am TEAM PINK for a long time. Not that I do not like blue but as a mom of two girls I am descent for pink. But seriously – who doesn’t like pink? Cocoa Vanilla Studio has so much to offer when it comes to pink papers and embellishments. That’s why I decided to mix few collection to create this very pink page.

I started with a sheet of watercolor paper and painted a circle using watercolor paints in different shades of pink. I also added few splashes here and there.

I didn’t want to cover my whole background with paper scraps so I decided to use (finally after so many years 🙂 ) my border punchers and make few fun stripes. You can spot a lot of different papers here like: “Sweet floral“, “Candy stripes“, “Dreamy“, “Frolic“, “Hip hooray“, “Party mix“, “Doodle dandy” and “Dreamer“. They are all from different collections but they have something in common – pink color.

With background as busy as mine I didn’t need much of embellishments. After all you don’t want to cover all that hard labor 😀 I chose two funny pictures of me taken with some animal filters (I always wanted to be a giraffe with glittery ears). I added a chipboard frame from “Love always” chipboard stickers sheet and surrounded it with flowers from “Bohemian dream” ephemera pack.

Few “Free spirit” puffy stickers along with glittery enamel dots were a perfect finishing touches. I created a title using white alpha stickers from “Color me happy” and a set of “Make a wish” alpha stickers.

I also have a process video for you:

That’s all for today. I hope you will join TEAM PINK too and you will create something covered with pink, glitter and all the cuteness of the world. See you in two weeks with some pretty “Bohemian dream” inspiration.

XO Anna

Hello everyone. How are you doing? It’s Monday, time to start new week. I am counting down to my French vacation. Only 10 more days to go 😀 I am still working at my desk creating projects with my favorite CVS products. It’s a multi photo week here at Cocoa Vanilla blog so I made a layout with two pictures of my lovely daughter. I also cut a big title “So glad we’re family” because I am really proud mom of my two girls. They are two best things in my life.

I didn’t have a plan for this page. First I thought I will use “Make a wish” collection because it’s colors matches my pictures. I chose paper “Hip hooray” with navy stripes for my background and “Party dots” for the title. After I had my base, title and pictures ready I noticed that I used up almost all my “Make a wish” embellishments. So I went for a hunt and looked through some older collections for matching elements, especially flowers.

I found the oldest CVS embellishments – stickers from “Sugar and spice” collection. I used all the flowers and some other small elements. I still have some more to use for the future 🙂

I also fussy cut some flowers from one of my favorite papers “In bloom” from “Life is beautiful” collection. “Make a wish” chipboard stickers were a perfect match too.

Hello sunshineflair button and woodies matched my page perfectly too.

I love digging in my CVS stash searching for matching elements and mixing up the collections. I am rediscovering them and the possibilities they give. I hope you like my page and it inspires you to dust the older scrappy stuff to play with.

Thank you for stopping by and see you in two weeks.

Hi everyone!

You will have seen that there was a DT call posted the other day. How exciting is that?? I’ve been lucky enough to spend TWO years on this team, I’ve worked with THIRTEEN amazing collections, and had an outstanding time whilst doing it! Zoe is truly one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. It’s been so rewarding seeing her company grow and to be part of it has been such a privilege! After two years though, it’s someone else’s turn. I can’t wait to see who get’s to play with her new collections, who will no doubt be fantabulous, just like all her previous ones!

As a THANK YOU and as a sign off, today I’m sharing my favourite LO from each and every one of Zoe’s/Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s collections.

Selfie star | Creative Scrappers Sketch | Anna Komenda

By | 2016-10-25T21:35:25+00:00 October 28th, 2016|Cut Files, Design Team, Sugar & Spice|

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Anna here with my project created for Creative Scrappers. Cocoa Vanilla Studio is sponsoring the prize for the winner so jump to the Creative Scrappers blog and create something pretty 🙂

The sketch looks like this:

We had to create our layouts using on collection only and mine was “Sugar and spice”. This is how my page looks like:

It is one of the oldest collections and I had only a few paper scraps left along with the stickers and some wood pieces. So I had to work with what I had 🙂

Sketch was created for 4 pictures and I decided to take it as it is. I used pink “Dot to dot” paper along with piece of “Sweet heart”. I also added blue accents by cutting stars from blue side of “Journal cards” paper.

I used some leftover stickers such as flowers and butterflies to embellish my page.

I also found some badges and wood veneers. I added them to finish up my page. I really loved working with this collection. I had only few bits and pieces left but I want to kill it to the last paper piece. Wish me luck 😀

That’s all for today. I will have something for planner lovers next time 🙂

Twin layouts “She” and “He” | Anna Komneda

By | 2016-10-13T20:56:36+00:00 October 14th, 2016|Design Team, Hello Lovely, Make A Wish, Sugar & Spice, Totally Rad|

Hello. It’s Anna here today with two twin pages. I found funny pictures of me and my hubby. I asked him to take some nice, romantic selfie together so I could use it on my scrap and this is what came out… Not a single pinch of romaticism but a lot of laught. I decided that those pictures needed some messy, colorful designes and then I had a revelation – I can make it double.

1 2

I used the same techniques and composition to build those pages. I created mixed media splatters using my Gelatos but I used different color schemes. “He” version is blue, lime and grey and “She” version is pink and yellow.

I mixed papers from almost every Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection to cut stars and hearts. I was just looking for pinks and blues mostly. I even used papers from a “girly” collections such as “Hello lovely” and “Sugar and spice” to cut out the stars. So You see how versatile Cocoa Vanilla collections are.

The same was with embellishments. I was matching them by colors not by collections, so You can find pieces from “Make a wish” chipboard stickers somewhere between the stars on “He” page along with elements from “Totally rad” collection.

It was really big fun to dig into my Cocoa Vanilla stash searching for matching items and discovering some great elements once again. It was refreshing for my mojo and now I have so many ideas for Cocoa Vanilla based projects.

Thank You for stopping by and see You in two weeks. i will may have something for planner addicts 🙂

Beautiful girl | Sugar and spice | Anna Komenda

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Anna here with my newest layout. New, gorgeous collection “Love always” was revealed few days ago and I am still waiting for the parcel to dive into new goodies. I decided than I need space for new stuff and I challenged myself to kill my two oldest CVS collections. I created layout with bits and pieces from “Sugar and spice” collection. The good news is that You can buy it in the Cocoa Vanilla Shop with a 40% discount. How cool is that? But hurry, because the deal will be over soon.

I used all paper scraps and cut hearts using my Big Shot. It took my some time but the final result is totally worth it. I lined my hearts mixing pinks, cork pattern, yellow and vellum.

I also used cork hearts that were included in this collection. I sew my hearts with my sewing machine to add texture.

I also used “Sugar and spice” stickers and wood veneers. They all look great togehter. This collection is very versatile. You can work with pinks and yellows. You can also create blue based design with a  touch of cork pattern.

That’s all for today. Reaching for some older stuff can be really fun and inspiring.

XO Anna
