You Make Me So Happy | Mix & Match | Missy Whidden

Hello again, friends!  Missy here, and I have a monochromatic layout to share today.  I was in the mood to use a lot of blue on this page, so I sorted through all the Cocoa Vanilla collections I own and pulled out all the blue papers.  I was surprised to see how many shades of blue there were!  I used this beautiful butterfly cut file and cut it on white cardstock.  I backed each one with a blue paper, and I just love mix of lights and darks.  I used the beautiful wood grain paper from Bohemian Dream as my background.  I coated a lot of it white gesso first and then used a few different shades of blue inks sprays over that.  I wanted more blue to peek out from around the cut file and in between all the butterflies.

I added some foam adhesive under all the butterflies to raise them up off the page.  I love the dimension this creates, and it really just makes the layout come to life.  I tucked my photo in to the left of the cut file and overlapped them.

I went small with the title and used this fun banner sticker from the Hello Lovely Accessory Stickers.  I didn’t want to add a large title because there really wasn’t anywhere to put it.  I didn’t want to cover up the butterflies or make them look busier.

I added this sticker from Wild At Heart here, and I love the pop of dark blue it gives.

I used a few things under my photo for layering.  I pulled a dark blue chipboard frame from Wild At Heart and also a fun die cut frame from Life is Beautiful.  I also added a few Life is Beautiful heart stickers and a gorgeous blue leaf stem from Bohemian Dream.  I love how the water in this photo looks like the background paper.  They both have lines, and I thought it matched very well.

Here’s one last close-up of the layering and dimension.  I really love how it turned out!

I hope this inspires you to go through all your papers and choose one main color to work with.  It helps you narrow down what you can use and helps to bring your page together faster.  Plus it’s fun to work with all those different shades of just one color!  Be sure to check out my process video here if you’d like to see how I made this.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fabulous day!

My 2017 Favourites | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! It’s Sue here with my final design team post for 2017. Today I am sharing a few of my personal favourite pages that I have created this year using Cocoa Vanilla Studio products. Some of these pages were created specifically for Cocoa Vanilla, and some were created for other teams, but still using CVS products.

The first page I want to share is one I created using the ‘You Rock’ collection. I make no secret of the fact I LOVE creating boy pages (lucky, because I have a twin set of them!) This layout features so many things I love to include on my pages – mixed media, bright colour, and layers. I am also a huge fan of stars, so you will also notice them often, especially on my boy pages.

For a change of pace, the second page I am going to share was a recent one, using the ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection and a photo of my gorgeous girl and our cat. Again, this layout featured mixed media (this time watercolour pencils), colour and layers. It also features butterflies – I LOVE butterflies and this collection has some of the most exquisite ones I have ever seen in a papercraft range.

The next one I have to share was actually created for the Scrap the Boys challenge blog back in July, using the ‘You Rock’ collection and some fun black and white photos of my boys. Again you can see mixed media (including stamping and texture paste) and plenty of layers. One of my favourite things about this page is the combination of those blue / grey tones combined with the raw wood *swoon*

For my final favourite page from 2017, I am sharing another layout that wasn’t created specifically for Cocoa Vanilla Studio, using an older (but still favourite) collection – ‘Hello Lovely’. I love this page not only for it’s colours and design, but also for the fact it featured a complete family photo on it (a rare event around here!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share these with you and for all your support and kind words throughout the year. Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays. See you in 2018!

Hello everyone!

It’s Elodie with you today for my last post of the year. I had so much fun playing with the amazing CVS collections that came out this year but also with some of the beautiful older lines! Here are a couple of my favourite layouts from 2017!

Shine Bright

I love creating scenes on my layouts! Here, I made a big sun using a large photo of my youngest daughter on the beach along with pretty Hello Lovely papers and embellies. This page is just as happy and bright as my little miss sunshine!

I really enjoyed making girly layouts with the You Rock collection! For this page, I made tags with You Rock papers and washi stickers, I placed them on each side of my sweet photo and I adorned them with awesome embellies from the range. I also made ornaments hanging down from the pic with fussy cut stars and a bit of stitching. I love how soft this page looks!

Follow Your Dreams

For this layout, I used the gorgeous Wild at Heart collection along with a photo of my girls playing on the beach. I made a big butterfly on my page using pretty fussy cut butterflies and shiny enamel dots for the wings. I placed the pic and beautiful Wild at Heart embellies in the center of the page to create the body of my butterfly. So dreamy!

Thanks so much for visiting the blog today! Happy holidays to you all!

Hi everyone!

2017 is fast coming to an end, and as a way of rounding off the year, we thought that it might be fun if each of our design team members shared some of our favourite projects that we’ve created this year using the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla products! I’m kicking it off today, and I have three layouts to share with you that feature a variety of different CVS collections!

I love how this first layout came together! I combined quite a few different collections, including ‘Colour Me Happy‘, ‘Wild at Heart‘, ‘Love Always‘, ‘Make a Wish‘, ‘Endless Summer‘, and ‘Hello Lovely‘. The soft pastel colours teamed up with pops of black and white, and grey, made for a a really pretty colour palette that was perfect for documenting these photos of my youngest daughter enjoying her first Easter egg. If you’d like to read more about this layout, you can find all the details in my original blog post here…

This is another one of my favourite layouts that I’ve created this year! It features the lovely ‘Endless Summer‘ collection, as well as a CVS cut file, and the cutest photo of my daughter and my nephew enjoying an ice cream together! The florals in the  ‘Endless Summer’ collection are so beautiful, and they’re perfect for fussy cutting! You can view my original blog post here for all the details about this layout…

And I also have a process video for this layout that you can check out on my YouTube channel…

Here is the third and final layout that I want to share with you today, featuring the beautiful ‘Love Always‘ collection. My aim for this layout was to keep it light and airy, and very simple. I love the end result, and I think it was the perfect way to document this photo of my sweet little niece! You’ll find closeups and more details about this layout in the full blog post…

And I have a process video for this layout as well…

I hope that you’ve enjoyed taking another look at some of my favourite layouts from this year! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the encouragement and support that you’ve shown me over the past year with all of  your likes and comments on social media, and by taking the time to read my blog posts. I appreciate all of you so much, and I look forward to sharing more projects with you in 2018. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

The Best Christmas | Mix & Match | Missy Whidden

By | 2017-12-10T06:01:11+00:00 December 10th, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Hello Lovely, Hello Sunshine, Inspiration, Life Is Beautiful, Make A Wish, Wild at Heart|

Hello there, and Happy Sunday!  Missy here, and I have a festive holiday layout to share today using non-holiday papers & embellishments.  I had lots of fun making this one!  I started with this beautiful tree cut file, which I cut on white cardstock.  I pulled several papers from various Cocoa Vanilla collections to back all those scalloped shapes.  I went for a pink, peach and light blue color scheme, and I think it turned out really pretty.  I pulled papers from Bohemian Dream, Hello Lovely, Wild at Heart, Hello Sunshine, Make a Wish and Life is Beautiful.  I went light on embellishments to let the photo and the tree stand out.

After backing the tree, I ran it through my sewing machine and stitched along each row using gold metallic thread.  I used white cardstock as my background and used lots of Gold Color Shine as well as some pink and blue Shimmerz sprays.  I used the plastic packaging technique and added lots of splatters.  Here you can see my journaling along the bottom row, which I wrote in gold.  I added some word and phrase stickers from the Bohemian Dream Accent Sticker Sheet as well as some enamel dots.  They remind me of little lights on the tree!

I mixed and matched my title using some Hello Lovely alpha stickers and some Hello Sunshine Puffy Stickers.  The Hello Lovely stickers are a wood color, but I painted some Gold Color Shine over them to make them sparkle.  I used a few Bohemian Dream Chipboard Stickers as well as a Life is Beautiful sticker.

I used a bit of blue paper behind my photo as well as some tissue paper and adhesive foam.  I stamped my date at the top instead of the bottom on this page.

I colored the star at the top gold, and I love how subtle it looks.  It was a lot of fun backing this cut file because I got to use so many papers from so many collections!

I think of birds when I think of Christmas, and instead of red birds I used these darling pink ones.  They’re from Bohemian Dream.  I cut one from a sticker and the bigger one is chipboard.  I love using non-traditional colors for Christmas pages!

I hope this inspires you to create a Christmas or holiday layout using products not made for holidays.  It was a fun challenge, and I love how it turned out.  I have a video here if you’d like to check out the process of this layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen sharing more Christmas inspiration with you today!  I love Christmas, I really do and I love scrapbooking our Christmas memories.  Today I am sharing this sweet photo of Miss 9 at last years Santa photo session.  She is getting to be a ‘big girl’ now and as we were standing in line for our photo, she noticed Santa asking the other children to put their hands on their heads to create Reindeer antlers.  As she stood there, trying to be all grown up, she kept saying, “I am sooo not doing that Mum, that’s for little kids”.  To my surprise, when it came to her turn, she followed along with Santas request and I have the darling photo to prove it.

Sweet You XMAS.jpg

This fortnight, we have been set the challenge to create a Christmas project with NON-Christmas supplies.  To begin, I sorted through my stash in the hunt for Red and Mint, the two boldest colours in my photo.  I found the Hello Lovely Glimmer paper which was a perfect match for the Mint, as well as the Make A Wish Daydream paper which I have used for my photo mat.  The Red, however, was much harder to find, so I pulled out a bright Christmas red in cardstock from my stash.

I also then searched through my stash of cut files and found this one, by Neat and Crafty which again, is not a Christmas theme cut file but I thought the bows were really nice and would represent presents.  I ended up cutting the file out three times, once in bright red and twice in white cardstock.  At this stage, I wasn’t sure which direction I was going and for me, options are always good to have!  It was at this point I did a whole lot of shuffling, in the end deciding on the white.  I then went about backing the bows in various colours in the paper mentioned above.  I then took the extra white version I had and trimmed off some single bows with my scissors and backed those as well. My plan was to mount them on foam for added dimension and layer them over the top of the main cut file.

I then thought it was all looking a bit plain, the cut file was blending into the white cardstock background.  So, I added in the red version of the cut file as a layer, with only small portions of it showing, almost like an outline. I love how it really helps bring the page together.

With that all in place, I went about placing my photo and finding my embellishments.  I just looked at all of the collections for things that would fit.  The words “Best Ever” have come from the Make a Wish Accessory Sticker Sheet and the typed sentiments have all come from the Love Always Accessory Sticker Sheet.  The “Special Memories” and “So Sweet” sentiments, as well as the love hearts, are all from the Sugar and Spice Accessory Stickers Sheet (an oldie but still one of my favourites). I’ve also added a couple of puffy heart stickers from the Endless Summer puffy sticker pack and sequins from my stash to finish.

The title “Sweet You” is from the Wild At Heart Collection Wood Veneer Words pack.  I have used embossing powder from my stash to turn them the perfect shade of Christmas gold.

I have kept the embellishments pretty simple as I didn’t want to take away from that background I had spent so much time creating.  A few small clusters and the page was complete.

Thanks for popping by today, it’s now your turn to create a Christmas page, which we would love to see you share on the Community FaceBook group!

Until next time,

Thankful For You | Hello Lovely | Ulrike Dold

Hello everyone,

Ulli here with you today sharing a new Cocoa Vanilla DT layout with you.

This week we have the gratitude theme here at the Cocoa Vanilla Blog. Therefor I made a clean and simple layout with a picture from me and my little family. I am so thankful for having my beloved husband at my side and together we have two wonderful little kids.

I decided to use the pretty and super cute Hello Lovely collection because I love the color scheme from this collection so much.

First I typed up my small journaling with my typewriter at the top of my 8.5 x 11 inch white cardstock. I picked “Thankful for you” for my title and decided to create the title with a pink foam phrase sticker from my stash and the small wooden grain and aqua alphabet stickers from the Cocoa Vanilla Hello Lovely collection. I glued the word “Thankful” directly under my journaling and the other two words also beneath it. Then I stitched over the foam word with my sewing machine.

I cut out the little banner (Love this) from the Hello Lovely “Lucky Dip” paper and I used my stapler before I glued it beside the words with the alpha stickers. Under the title I added the little diamond from the Hello Lovely die cut ephemera.

Then I cut a wide paper stripe from the black and white striped “Life Story” paper and a small one from the pink “Delightful” paper. I glued the striped one on the bottom and the other over it. Then I stitched over the lower border from my layout with my sewing machine.

I splattered some gold paint across the page. After that I punched out my photo in the shape of a circle. Therefor I used a circle punch with the size of 2 inch. I glued the photo on the papers below in the middle of my layout because I love it when my layouts have a clear structure.

Then I glued the sticker with the three flowers from the Hello Lovely accessory stickers sheet on the right side next to my photo. I used foam dots to add my layout more dimension. On the middle of the biggest flower I added the woodie (FAB) from the Free Spirit collection.

I glued the floral border in aqua on the top of my layout and stitched over it. Then I glued the sticker with the stars on it – also with some foam dots.

I stamped the date with a roller stamp on my layout and wrote on the other side where the photo was taken. Then I finished off my layout with some enamel dots from the Hello Lovely and the You Rock collection here and there.

I hope you like my layout and had fun reading my post.
