Hello friends, it’s Emma on the blog today and I’m so excited to be sharing my next page. This week the Design Team will be sharing projects that focus on colour and I had so much fun putting this one together. As soon as I saw the theme I knew I wanted to include a collection of colours – and the easiest way to do that? Go with a rainbow! The bonus of creating a rainbow layout is that it’s also an easy way to use a mixture of CVS collections on your page too!
Because I was using a mixture of colours I flipped my photo’s to black & white so I didn’t have to worry about colours clashing. I used a star-burst design for the top of my page and cut the papers from a few collections (You Rock, Wild at Heart, Endless Summer, Make a Wish and Totally Rad) using my trusty scissors so each piece is slightly different from the other. I also cut a couple pieces from the same patterned paper (one slightly smaller than the other) and then machine stitched them together, folding up the sides on the top piece to create a bit of dimension on the page.
I planned to have the title at the bottom of my page but I knew I had to keep it plain because the page already had alot of colour on it, so I went with the white alphabet stickers from Colour Me Happy.
Now I’m a fan of white on white but the title didn’t stand out enough on the white cardstock background so I came up with the idea to pop them onto of the word stickers – I’d planned on using them (You Rock Accessory Stickers) on the page anyway so I figured why not make them my background instead! Part of me didn’t want to waste that many fun word stickers on the one page but I really quite like how it turned out. I just ran the whole lot through the sewing machine to keep them in place (I’m a big fan of the sewing machine, hard to find a layout of mind that doesn’t include it).
My journaling is typed up on the computer (using typewriter font) and printed it onto plain white paper. Up until this stage the photo’s had been sitting side by side but the journaling ended up being a little bigger than I’d thought so I staggered the photo’s, put the journaling at the top of the right photo and popped one of the rubber charms (from You Rock collection) at the bottom of the left photo to balance things out.
Once I’d finished with the actual layout of my page, I got to add all the other fun bits and pieces – I love enamel dots/shapes and there are so many fun colours in all the CVS collections! Most of the enamel dots came from the Colour Me Happy collection (warm & cool) but I also added a few stars from Totally Rad and chipboard stars from You Rock.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope you’re inspired to create your own page using a bit of rainbow magic! There are so many gorgeous colours in all of the CVS collections so don’t be afraid to mix and match! 😉
Until next time, take care. Em xo
