Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am excited to feature my first layout created using the AMAZING More Than Words collection!

One of my favourite things from this brand new beautiful collection are the gorgeous stamps! Now I am not much of a stamper, however when I saw these stamps I knew I had to feature them on a layout!

I started off by stamping the large floral cluster in black and then worked my photo and layers around this design. I knew I wanted to have some sprays of embellishments out each side of my layers as shown here.

This photo is of my 2 gorgeous nieces in the bath tub! They are such happy and beautiful little girls! I just love that I can use pink lots more now! A couple of lace doilies help to ground my layers against the woodgrain patterned paper from the More Than Words collection…

I used lots of different embellishments all from the More Than Words collection on this layout including: vellum, ephemera, enamel shapes, cardstock stickers, flair and chipboard stickers too! I love how the hearts here at the bottom look as though they are hanging from the stamped flowers!

I hope you have started creating with your More Than Words collection? If you have, make sure to upload it to the Facebook community for us all to see!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

XO | Love Always | Tarrah McLean

By | 2018-02-07T22:04:42+00:00 February 9th, 2018|Cut Files, Design Team, Inspiration, Love Always|

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah McLean here and I am SOOOOO excited to be back sharing my first layout as part of the Cocoa Vanilla team for the 2nd time! I really missed being on the Cocoa Vanilla team last year so you could imagine my delight and excitement when Zoe asked if I would like to join the team again! I AM SO EXCITED TO BE BACK!!!

We are celebrating LOVE right here on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog all this week and since I have oodles of product still left from when I was a designer previously, I decided to use up some of the beautiful Love Always collection for my Love themed layout today!

I started out by choosing a cut file with lots of hearts and cut it from the B side of the Lovely Things paper….I also used the sketch pen to draw the outline heart so that I was able to poke holes in to add some hand stitching.  I then chose lots of the different papers and backed all the hearts with different papers from the Love Always collection.

Once all the hearts were filled in, I matted my photo slightly with the black spotted vellum piece from the Vellum Accents pack, I then adhered my photo to the right hand side of the heart, the ‘XO’ chipboard piece became my title plus I added the cute chippie stickers ‘You + Me’ from the chipboard sticker sheet! A few other embellishments like accessory stickers, enamel dots and a flair button all help to decorate my layout but not over do it. I wanted the photo to be the main focus plus I didn’t want to cover up many of the hearts either!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Till next time……happy creating!

Hello Beautiful | Life is Beautiful | Tarrah McLean

By | 2016-12-31T13:02:27+00:00 January 2nd, 2017|Cut Files, Design Team, Inspiration, Life Is Beautiful|

HAPPY NEW YEAR Cocoa Vanilla fans!

It’s Tarrah McLean with you and today I have a new layout to share where I have revisited one of the older but beautiful collections – Life is Beautiful!

I have my gorgeous 18 month old niece and her Mum and Dad currently staying with me from England…of course I am taking loads of photos of my niece so what better way to document her by using the gorgeous Life Is Beautiful collection.

The background paper I decided to use was a little bit busy so I found a circular cut file to use and backed it with the plainer blue paper, I then machine stitched around the entire edge for some extra texture. I like how this now takes away some of the busyness. I used pop dots under the backed cut file to lift it up off the page. This cut file has some floral pieces attached to it at the bottom, you can see little bits of the floral parts mixed in with all the fussy cutting and ephemera pieces I added at the bottom!

I used the gorgeous Life is Beautiful wood veneer, enamel dots, flair, stickers and Little Pretties to embellish my layout.

The journal card was the perfect addition to my page, I typed my journaling on the computer and printed it out on the journal card and adhered it beside my photo.

The journaling describes my niece perfectly!!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today!

HAPPY NEW YEAR again…..celebrate in style and best wishes to you for a healthy and happy one!

Sunrise | Endless Summer | Tarrah McLean

By | 2016-12-18T21:40:22+00:00 December 20th, 2016|Design Team, Endless Summer, Inspiration|

Hi there Cocoa Vanilla fans!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and today I have a new scrapbook layout to share using the gorgeous brand new Endless Summer collection!

I took this gorgeous photo of a sunrise one morning while we were camping near the beach at Easter time earlier this year. I used the panoramic mode on my phone to take the photo and loved the result!

I absolutely LOVE the blue cloud paper from the Endless Summer collection! I was going to use the full sheet as my background for this layout but there was a little bit too much blue in my photo to have a blue background as well. Instead I fussy cut lots of the clouds and layered them behind and around the top and sides of my photo.

I embellished my layout using lots of the embellishments that refer to the sun in some way since my layout is about the Sunrise! I used the puffy stickers, wood veneer, wood beads, flair buttons, stickers, ephemera and enamel shapes all from the Endless Summer collection!

This is my last share for 2016! I want to thank everyone who takes the time to read the Cocoa Vanilla blog for all your support throughout the year! I hope I have inspired you in some small way to use your yummy Cocoa Vanilla goodies!

Merry Christmas to you and your family and blessings to you all for a safe, happy and healthy new year!

Happy creating!

Lots of love,

Serious Santa | Tis The Season | Tarrah McLean

By | 2016-11-29T17:38:33+00:00 December 2nd, 2016|Design Team, Inspiration, Tis The Season|

Hi there Cocoa Vanilla fans!

Happy December!! It’s Tarrah McLean back with you today! I decided that the Tis the Season Christmas collection needed to make a come back for one of my December projects! Even though this collection is a year old, I still LOVE it and its perfect for layouts, gifts, cards…any type of festive project! The Tis the Season collection is on sale in the online store right now for 40% off if you want to get yourself some of this beautiful collection!

I was going through lots of photos this week and came across some fun Christmas ones of my eldest son from a couple of years ago, I made him put the Santa hat on and of course he had to pull some strange faces while wearing it! Tis The Season is a very traditional Christmas collection, photos like these fun ones are still great to use with traditional colours and products!

I just adore those Poinsettia flowers and the berry stems found in the ephemera pack! I made a cluster to frame the bottom of my photo by popping them up with some foam tape. I embellished my layout further using the accessory stickers, wood veneer, flair buttons, enamel dots, sequins, lucky charms and enamel stars.

For my title, I used the alphabet stickers from the collection for the word ‘Serious’ and I cut the Santa word using my Silhouette Cameo! I finished the layout by adding some mist and machine stitching to the outside edges.

Thank so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today!

@ The Beach | Endless Summer | Tarrah McLean

By | 2016-11-20T08:54:06+00:00 November 20th, 2016|Design Team, Endless Summer, Inspiration|

Hi there Cocoa Vanilla fans!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you again! Thanks for joining me! I have another new scrapbook layout to share using the AMAZING Brand New ‘Endless Summer’ collection!

This collection is just perfect for all your Summer/Beach/Swimming memories that you want to document! The colours are muted and soft, suitable for both boys and girls too!

I decided to use a cut file from The Cut Shoppe for my title…choosing the @ The Beach title with the arrow. I cut this title from the orange ombre paper and popped it up using some foam tape for dimension. I also added in lots of other phrase stickers and embellishments from the Endless Summer collection!

This photo was taken at a recent little holiday to Hawks Nest with my sons. The weather was just perfect and that water….this photo has no filter…just taken as we saw it! So pristine and gorgeous! I popped my photo up on foam tape to help create some shadows and to correspond with the title!

Thank you so much for joining me on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! The Endless Summer collection can now be purchased from retail stores around the country AND you can also now purchase it from the Cocoa Vanilla store too!

Happy creating!

Summer Days | Endless Summer | Tarrah McLean

By | 2016-11-01T21:14:54+00:00 November 2nd, 2016|Design Team, Endless Summer, Inspiration|

Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am super excited to be sharing a new layout with you featuring the AMAZING brand new ‘Endless Summer’ collection!

My sons and I had a recent getaway to a small holiday destination called Hawks Nest in NSW. Its a coastal town not too far away from where we live and it was perfect! When I saw this collection, I knew I had the perfect photos to use with this collection! I decided to create a photo strip of some of my favourite photos taken from that weekend! I love how it turned out!

Here is a process video showing how I created my layout!

[kad_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/t92e7p5Zo_k” width=”560″ height=”315″]

I just had to add the film strip piece from the ephemera pack underneath my photo and the little camera woodie was a cute piece to add near the photos! I absolutely LOVE this collection! I say this every time Zoe brings out another new collection, but seriously, she makes it so easy to create fun projects when everything is just so gorgeous! The products definitely scrapbook themselves!!

Aren’t those clouds just the cutest?!! I know I am going to need loads more of both the ephemera ones and the wood veneer ones! I am not normally much of a flower person when it comes to scrapbooking, but seeing those adorable hibiscus flowers, I couldn’t resist using them on this layout!

Thank you so much for joining me on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! The Endless Summer collection will be available on the Cocoa Vanilla website and in retail stores really soon! Keep a look out for it!

Happy creating!
