About Sue Plumb

Sue is a stay at home mum of 3 (daughter Brielle, and twin sons Hunter and Kaden) and lives in the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland.
She began scrapping in 2008, shortly after her daughter was born. After the premature birth of her sons in 2012, she took 18 months off scrapping to concentrate on family and says she is now enjoying it more than ever. (Her biggest issue now is finding quiet time!)
She currently designs for challenge blogs, and has had work published in magazines on numerous occasions, including the cover. She was also a 2017 Scrapbooking Memories magazine Creative Team member.
Although primarily a 12×12 scrapper, she says she loves to dabble a bit with pocket style scrapping, art journaling, and the odd canvas and card too. She best describes her style as “versatile” – ranging from clean and linear one day, to messy mixed media the next.

Big Beautiful Moment | Bohemian Dream | Sue Plumb

By | 2018-01-04T01:49:30+00:00 January 7th, 2018|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here today sharing my first project for 2018, which was created using the gorgeous ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection. This layout is particularly close to my heart for a couple of reasons. First of all, because it was initially created as part of my entry for the Masters competition for the (now defunct) Scrapbooking Memories magazine. But secondly, because it documents a truly amazing moment in my life – meeting my half sister for the very first time.

My layout started with the stunning Beautiful Mess patterned paper for my background. Although this paper is designed to use as a cut apart in smaller pieces; I loved the patchwork-style look of it as a whole sheet, so I decided to add some machine stitching to turn it into a design feature.

Next, I used the B-side of the Abundant paper to mat my photo with, before mounting it on some cardboard to raise it up from the page and help it pop.

Behind my photo, I tucked in a tab from the die cut ephemera pack; and then added a heart from the chipboard accent stickers just below it, directly onto my photo.

When it came to embellishing my page I wanted to keep it sweet and simple. I sorted through the die cut ephemera pack and pulled out pieces that coordinated with each of the colour blocks on the paper. I also added some of the small phrases from the accessory sticker sheet.

For my title I utilised the large negative space of my photo, and used a combination of chipboard accent stickers; an accessory sticker and a chipboard title sticker word that I coloured using watercolour paints.

To finish my layout I added some simple, typed journaling strips and I was done. I am so happy with how this page turned out, and that I could use such a beautiful collection to document such an important moment in my life.

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I will be back in a couple of weeks with another project. Until then, happy scrapping!

My 2017 Favourites | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-12-21T08:00:45+00:00 December 21st, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, You ROCK|

Hi everyone! It’s Sue here with my final design team post for 2017. Today I am sharing a few of my personal favourite pages that I have created this year using Cocoa Vanilla Studio products. Some of these pages were created specifically for Cocoa Vanilla, and some were created for other teams, but still using CVS products.

The first page I want to share is one I created using the ‘You Rock’ collection. I make no secret of the fact I LOVE creating boy pages (lucky, because I have a twin set of them!) This layout features so many things I love to include on my pages – mixed media, bright colour, and layers. I am also a huge fan of stars, so you will also notice them often, especially on my boy pages.

For a change of pace, the second page I am going to share was a recent one, using the ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection and a photo of my gorgeous girl and our cat. Again, this layout featured mixed media (this time watercolour pencils), colour and layers. It also features butterflies – I LOVE butterflies and this collection has some of the most exquisite ones I have ever seen in a papercraft range.

The next one I have to share was actually created for the Scrap the Boys challenge blog back in July, using the ‘You Rock’ collection and some fun black and white photos of my boys. Again you can see mixed media (including stamping and texture paste) and plenty of layers. One of my favourite things about this page is the combination of those blue / grey tones combined with the raw wood *swoon*

For my final favourite page from 2017, I am sharing another layout that wasn’t created specifically for Cocoa Vanilla Studio, using an older (but still favourite) collection – ‘Hello Lovely’. I love this page not only for it’s colours and design, but also for the fact it featured a complete family photo on it (a rare event around here!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share these with you and for all your support and kind words throughout the year. Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays. See you in 2018!

These Are the Days | Various Collections | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-12-07T01:32:08+00:00 December 7th, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Colour Me Happy, Design Team, Hello Sunshine, Inspiration, Make A Wish, Totally Rad, Wild at Heart, You ROCK|

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here today, and it’s time for me to share another design team project with you. You may have noticed that the CVS design team are currently being challenged to create a Christmas themed project that doesn’t use a Christmas collection. I love a good challenge, and I had so much fun going through my stash and collecting items from all different collections that I could use for my page.

There are such a variety of collections used here, starting with that gorgeous wood grain paper from the ‘Make a Wish’ collection that I used for my background. (It is actually the B-side of the beautiful floral print Fresh Cut paper from MaW – don’t you hate it when your two favourite prints from a range are back to back?! haha)

To create my design, I layered assorted papers from the ‘You Rock’‘Totally Rad’; and ‘Colour Me Happy’ collections to form a basic Christmas tree shape. I cut each piece to varying widths and overlapped them to add extra visual interest. The these are the days piece that formed the title in the centre of my tree was cut from one of the ‘Colour Me Happy’ Snip-Its sheets.

I then began “decorating” my tree. I started with the ‘You Rock’ wood veneer star on top, then added the red stars that were fussy cut from the ‘You Rock’ Starshine paper. I also added the amazing and awesome wood veneer shapes (also from the ‘You Rock’ collection). Next, I added some phrase stickers that were from the ‘Wild at Heart’ Accessory Sticker sheet.

To further tie the wood theme into my page, I added a few Woodies (from the ‘Hello Sunshine’ collection) and the small love word from the ‘Colour Me Happy’ wood veneer words. I then livened up my tree by scattering some ‘Colour Me Happy’ Enamel Dots – Cool randomly around. To finish off my page, I used some of the new ‘Bohemian Dream’ clear stamps with navy ink to stamp some hearts and the love this sentiment around my page; before splattering a small amount of navy ink around.

So there you have it – a Christmas themed page without a Christmas collection anywhere to be seen! (And I managed to include items from SEVEN different Cocoa Vanilla collections!)

Thanks for stopping by today. Until next time, happy scrapping!

Cherished | Bohemian Dream | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-11-17T13:36:01+00:00 November 21st, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team creation with you using the stunning ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection. This week the team are focusing on the theme of ‘Thankful’, and sharing projects that celebrate gratitude; so I decided to dedicate a page to my sister – who I am thankful for every day.

I kept this page surprisingly clean and neat for me, using the Abundant and Dreamer papers for my page background, with a diagonal design. I then created a layered mat for my photo using pieces of the Abstract; Gypsy Heart; and Boho Bits papers. I also added a paper doily from my stash before mounting my photo on top, using some cardboard underneath it for extra dimension.

Along the right side of my photo, I added the you brighten my world tag from the Accessory Sticker sheet, which I tied with a small piece of twine. I also added a sweet little bird from the Chipboard Accent Stickers. (I love the bird so much I HAD to use it, or it was destined to become one of those little things you love so much you hoard forever!)

I then created a cluster to the left of my photo. This time I used a floral piece that I fussy cut from the Abundant paper; which I topped with some messy cotton thread and the you are amazing flair button. I also added a small Chipboard Accent Sticker heart nearby.

To balance my design I created a third small cluster in the top right corner of my page. I used the word cherished as my title, which was cut from the Boho Bits paper and popped up on some foam tape to give it dimension. I also added some floral and leaf pieces from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. Below my cluster I added my strip journaling.

To finish my page (and add a touch of messy to keep my arty heart happy) I splattered some hot pink mist randomly around.

Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share this with you. Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends who are celebrating this week. Until next time, happy scrapping!

Dream Big | Bohemian Dream | Sue Plumb

By | 2017-11-04T15:20:25+00:00 November 7th, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here and it’s time to share another design team project with you. Today I have a super pretty mixed media layout using the stunning new ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection and my (poor neglected) watercolour pencils. (Which, as it turns out, was a match made in heaven!)

I wanted to document this sweet photo I captured of my daughter and our cat. She totally adores him (and likewise he her), and often I find them asleep together in her bed.

I started with the wood grain print on the reverse side of the ‘Kaleidoscope’ paper as my base. I then took pieces cut from the ‘Boho Bits’ paper, along with pieces from the miniature version of the ‘Beautiful Mess’ paper from the 6×6″ paper pad, and stuck them randomly around my page.

I then took my watercolour pencils and sketched around and between each of the pieces, switching between different colours as I went. Once I had all the sketching in place, I went back over it with a small paint brush dipped in water to soften the lines and blend the colours out.

Next, I cut a piece of the ‘Gypsy Heart’ paper from the 6×6″ pad and placed it where my photo was going to go. I then added some messy cotton thread for soft texture before adding my photo on top. Above my photo, I tucked in the favourite tab from the die cut ephemera pack.

Then it was time to start adding some embellishments around my page. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful butterflies. (I am a huge fan of butterflies at the best of times, but the ones in this collection really have my heart – I wish I had a thousand of them!)

I managed to restrain myself to only five butterflies on the page. Two were from the chipboard accent sticker sheet; two from the die cut ephemera pack; and the final one (and my favourite), was the one below my photo which was fussy cut from the ‘Boho Bits’ paper. Below my photo was also the love you chipboard accent sticker sheet.

I clustered a few of the butterflies with floral pieces from the ephemera pack. (The florals in this range are SO gorgeous!) Alongside my photo I also added the words you are best friends from the accessory sticker sheet, along with a chipboard heart. To finish my page, I added a few hearts from the enamel shapes pack, and stamped the little moments phrase from the clear stamp set.

If you would like to get your hands on your own stash of the new ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection, you can find it in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio store HERE

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I will be back in a couple of weeks time with another project. Until then, happy scrapping!
