Love You | More than Words | Mandy Melville

Hello friends!

Mandy here with you today to share another layout featuring the beautiful More than Words collection! We’re continuing with our ‘love’ theme here on the blog for the next couple of days, and so I’m sharing a layout of my hubby and I, taken on Christmas Day last year! I decided on this page that I wanted to focus on the corals and blues within the collection. Here’s the layout that I created…

I chose the Radiant patterned paper (reverse side) as the background for my layout, and I matted it on the Gossamer patterned paper (reverse side). I also added some machine stitching around the edge of the page to give it some subtle texture.

Next I applied some acrylic paint to my background using a palette knife. I created that lovely coral coloured paint by mixing together pink and yellow. The painted background really helps the photo to pop off the page! I also splattered some watered down white gesso onto the background for some more interest.

I matted my photo with several patterned papers from the collection. The papers that I used were – Collage (reverse side), Treasure (reverse side), Noteworthy, and Gossamer (reverse side). I also added a doily from my stash, and I tucked a tab from the die-cut ephemera pack underneath the left hand side of the photo.

I combined one of the chipboard titles from the collection, with a banner from the die cut ephemera pack, and a couple of the little word stickers, to create the phrase ‘love you my darling, with all my heart, always’. This was the perfect sentiment for this layout, and it serves as both the title and my journaling. I also added a little chipboard arrow underneath the title.

Underneath the title I added a couple of die cut feathers as well as a flair button from the collection. I added some foam tape underneath one of the feathers to give it some extra dimension.

I finished the layout off with a few enamel dots, and a chipboard hearts.

Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout!

Wonderful & Sweet | More than Words | Mandy Melville

By | 2018-01-29T21:17:49+00:00 February 1st, 2018|Design Team, Inspiration, More Than Words|

Hi friends!

Mandy here with you today, sharing a layout that I created using the stunning new More than Words collection! I just love the soft colours in this collection, and of course the beautiful florals! It’s so lovely to work with, and I couldn’t wait to create another layout with it!

On this layout, I documented a photo of my youngest daughter Eleanor with our new little kitten Archie. I just love the way they both look so happy and content together. Eleanor has such a sweet relationship with both our cats, and I’m so glad that I captured this moment!

I started my layout off by trimming an inch off each side of my white cardstock. I then added a thin border around the white cardstock using the reverse side of the Darling Buds patterned paper, and then matted the entire layout on the A-side of that same patterned paper. I love the sweet little flowers on that paper! I also added some machine stitching around the edge of the white cardstock to give it some additional texture.

I added some pretty layers behind my photo using a few patterned papers from the collection as well as a doily from my stash. The papers that I used are – Noteworthy (both the front and the reverse side), and Collage.

I created a pretty cluster of embellishments on the right hand side of the photo. The cluster includes a butterfly that I fussy cut from the Treasure patterned paper, some beautiful flowers from the die cut ephemera pack. a flair button, a little word sticker from the accessory sticker sheet, and a chipboard frame from the Wild at Heart collection. I used foam tape underneath some of the elements withing the cluster to give it lots of dimension! You can also see here the cute little chipboard banner that I added to the top right hand corner of the page.

I created a smaller second cluster down in the bottom left hand corner of the page. This gives the layout a diagonal flow, and helps to draw your eye from the photo, down to the title and journaling. This cluster includes more of the beautiful die cuts and stickers from the collection. Once again, I used foam tape to create varying heights within the cluster.

Lastly I added my title and journaling to the page. I created the title using a chipboard sticker from the More than Words collection, combined with alphabet stickers from the Hello Lovely collection. The wood grain look of the alphabet stickers balances out the chipboard frame in the top cluster.

That’s it from me for today! Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog, and I’ll be back later in the month with a new project to share with you! Make sure you keep your eye out at your local retailer for the More than Words collection, as this is one that you will not want to miss!

Precious Little Memories | More than Words | Mandy Melville

By | 2018-01-12T22:20:01+00:00 January 15th, 2018|Design Team, Inspiration, More Than Words|

Hi everyone!

Mandy here with you today, and I’m so excited to be sharing my first layout using the brand new More than Words collection! I absolutely LOVE this collection, especially the soft pastel colours and the beautiful florals! It’s just so pretty!! I couldn’t wait to start creating with it!

Here’s my layout…

On this layout I documented a couple of photos of my youngest daughter Eleanor and I, taken a few months ago. If you’re anything like me, then you’re probably behind the camera more than you’re in front of it. So when my hubby offered to take some photos of me with the kids, I happily handed the camera over to him, and I absolutely love the photos that he took. I think they beautifully capture the love between my daughter and I!

I started my layout off by covering the top half of the page with the Sketchbook patterned paper. I absolutely love the look of the hand-drawn flowers on this paper, and the soft hints of colour. So pretty! I also added a thin strip of the Darling Buds (reverse side) patterned paper under the bottom edge of Sketchbook paper, and I tore the edge of it to give it some texture. Next I matted the two photos with the Treasure (reverse side) patterned paper, and adhered them side by side in the middle of the page.

I created a little cluster of embellishments on the top left hand corner of the photo on the left. The cluster includes a label, a small floral cluster, and a little banner, all from the die cut ephemera pack. Above the photo I added a couple of the little word stickers from the sticker sheet as well as a little chipboard heart sticker.

I added some foam tape, and tucked a chipboard frame, underneath the photo on the right. This helped to give it some nice dimension. I then created a second cluster on the right hand side of the photo using a die cut butterfly, a flair button, and a chipboard heart. I also tucked another little word sticker under the bottom edge of the photo.

Underneath the photos I added my title and journaling, as well as a few more pretty embellishments. I created the title using a word from the chipboard sticker sheet, combined with a little banner from the die cut ephemera pack. I added my journaling to the page using my typewriter, and then I embellished around the title and journaling with some leaves and florals from the vellum accents pack. I finished the layout off with a few of the cute little enamel shapes.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a closer look at some of beautiful papers and embellishments in the More than Words collection! Make sure you keep your eye out at your local retailer in the coming weeks for this beautiful collection! I guarantee you’ll love it!

Lovely | Bohemian Dream | Mandy Melville

By | 2018-01-01T10:25:23+00:00 January 1st, 2018|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Happy New Year CVS friends!

Can you believe that 2018 is upon us already?! I’m excited for this year, and I know that you are going to LOVE the gorgeous collections that Zoe will be releasing this year! I get to kick off the New Year here on the blog, and today I’m sharing a layout that I created using the beautiful Bohemian Dream collection!

We got a new little kitten just before Christmas! His name is Archie and he’s such a playful and affectionate little boy! It certainly didn’t take long for him to find his way into our hearts! I couldn’t wait to create a layout dedicated to him, and the beautiful blues in the Bohemian Dream collection were just perfect for this page!

I started my layout off by adding some watered down acrylic paint to my background. This created a base for where I wanted to add my photo. I then added a strip of the Flower Child (reverse side) patterned paper down the left hand side of the page. I tore the edge of the paper to give it some additional texture and interest.

I added a couple of layers underneath my photo using the Abundant (reverse side) and the Gypsy Heart (reverse side) patterned papers. For my title, I used one of the beautiful chipboard words from the collection, which I adhered using foam tape for extra dimension. I also added a chipboard sticker that says ‘special’ above my title.

On the right hand side of the photo I added a cute little chipboard heart, and I also tucked a die cut tab, and some vellum leaves under the edge of the photo.

I finished the layout off by adding a few vellum butterflies and some enamel dots to the page. I also added some subtle stamping to the background using the ‘hello you’ stamp from the stamp set.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout! I’ll be back later in the month with another project to share with you! Until then , happy crafting!

By | 2017-12-11T22:32:06+00:00 December 15th, 2017|Colour Me Happy, Cut Files, Design Team, Endless Summer, Hello Lovely, Inspiration, Love Always, Make A Wish, Wild at Heart|

Hi everyone!

2017 is fast coming to an end, and as a way of rounding off the year, we thought that it might be fun if each of our design team members shared some of our favourite projects that we’ve created this year using the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla products! I’m kicking it off today, and I have three layouts to share with you that feature a variety of different CVS collections!

I love how this first layout came together! I combined quite a few different collections, including ‘Colour Me Happy‘, ‘Wild at Heart‘, ‘Love Always‘, ‘Make a Wish‘, ‘Endless Summer‘, and ‘Hello Lovely‘. The soft pastel colours teamed up with pops of black and white, and grey, made for a a really pretty colour palette that was perfect for documenting these photos of my youngest daughter enjoying her first Easter egg. If you’d like to read more about this layout, you can find all the details in my original blog post here…

This is another one of my favourite layouts that I’ve created this year! It features the lovely ‘Endless Summer‘ collection, as well as a CVS cut file, and the cutest photo of my daughter and my nephew enjoying an ice cream together! The florals in the  ‘Endless Summer’ collection are so beautiful, and they’re perfect for fussy cutting! You can view my original blog post here for all the details about this layout…

And I also have a process video for this layout that you can check out on my YouTube channel…

Here is the third and final layout that I want to share with you today, featuring the beautiful ‘Love Always‘ collection. My aim for this layout was to keep it light and airy, and very simple. I love the end result, and I think it was the perfect way to document this photo of my sweet little niece! You’ll find closeups and more details about this layout in the full blog post…

And I have a process video for this layout as well…

I hope that you’ve enjoyed taking another look at some of my favourite layouts from this year! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the encouragement and support that you’ve shown me over the past year with all of  your likes and comments on social media, and by taking the time to read my blog posts. I appreciate all of you so much, and I look forward to sharing more projects with you in 2018. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas | Bohemian Dream + You Rock + More | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-11-29T22:49:42+00:00 December 1st, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Colour Me Happy, Design Team, Free Spirit, Hello Sunshine, Inspiration, Totally Rad, You ROCK|

Hey crafty friends!

Mandy here today to share a fun festive layout with you! For the next two weeks, the design team are all going to be sharing Christmas projects using non-Christmas themed products! It’s going to be awesome to see what everyone comes up with! I’m kicking it off today, so for my layout, I decided to combine quite a few different CVS collections to create a fresh and vibrant colour palette. Here’s what I came up with…

I documented a photo of my little nephew Jude on this layout. Last year was his very first Christmas, so it was a particularly special Christmas for our family! He looked so adorable with his little Santa hat on!

I wanted to have a large feature title on this layout so that I could include lots of the beautiful CVS patterned papers. I chose a cut file, and then backed each of the words using a variety of different patterned papers. Here’s a list of the papers that I used (from top to bottom)…

I LOVE how all of these patterned papers look together!

I added a couple of layers behind my photo using the Night Sky patterned paper from the You ROCK collection, as well as a frame from the Free Spirit Die Cut Ephemera pack. I also tucked a little tab from the Bohemian Dream Accessory Sticker sheet under the right hand side of the photo. I’ve been hoarding the gorgeous buttons from the Hello Sunshine collection for quite awhile, but I decided that it was time to pull them out and get them onto a layout! I added one on the left hand side of the photo, and two more around the layout the layout as well.

Up in the top left hand corner of the layout, I added a few embellishments from the ‘You ROCK’ collection, including a chipboard sticker, a wood veneer piece, and a star that I fussy cut from the Starshine patterned paper.

I created another little cluster to the left of the word ‘little’. This one includes a ‘Bohemian Dream’  flair button, another fussy cut star, and another little button from the ‘Hello Sunshine’ collection. I love how those stars add the perfect pop of red to the page!

The CVS little phrase stickers always add the perfect finishing touch to a layout! I used one that says ‘love this’, which was from the ‘Colour Me Happy’ Snip-Its pack.

To add some more interest to the page, I added a few puffy stars. These were from the Free Spirit’ puffy sticker pack, as well as the ‘Hello Sunshine’ one. I finished the layout off by adding a messy hand-drawn border around the page, and then lastly I added some black ink splatters.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! Maybe you’ve been inspired to create a Christmas layout using non-Christmas themed products? Make sure you pop back in for lots more Christmas inspiration over the coming weeks!

Cherish This | Bohemian Dream | Mandy Melville

By | 2017-11-13T14:35:37+00:00 November 15th, 2017|Bohemian Dream, Design Team, Inspiration|

Hi everyone! Mandy here with you today to share a new layout featuring the gorgeous Bohemian Dream collection! This week the design team are all sharing layouts that focus on either pink or blue, and I’m loving the projects that have been shared so far! Personally I don’t really have a preference between pink and blue – I love creating with both – it really just depends on the mood that I’m in and the photos that I’m scrapbooking! This time I was in the mood to create a girly layout, so I focused on the beautiful pinks within the Bohemian Dream collection!

I documented a recent photo of my youngest daughter, Eleanor, playing with her new baby doll that she got for her birthday. She loves taking care of her baby by feeding her, and changing her nappy, and getting her dressed. I love seeing that nurturing side to her, and so I wanted to scrapbook this photo to document that. (I’m planning to add my journaling to the back of the layout, because I couldn’t find a spot where I would be happy with the placement of it.)

I started my layout off by adding some paint to the background, and then I laid a cut file over the top. I backed some of the hearts in the cut file with papers from the 6×6 paper pad as well as the Beautiful Mess patterned paper. The smaller patterns on the 6×6 papers made them perfect for backing the cut file! I also used the Bohemian Dream clear stamps to fill in some of the open spaces in the cut file.

Behind my photo I added some layers using a couple more of the 6×6 papers, and I also added some foam tape underneath it to give the photo some extra dimension, and separate it from the background.

I’m loving the chipboard titles in this collection! I combined one of the little phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet with a chipboard word to create the title ‘cherish this’. I also added one of the pretty die cut flowers and some leaves to the right of the title.

I created a second cluster of embellishments up in the top left hand corner of the page that includes a die cut flower, a chipboard bird, and a little word sticker. If you love using pink on your projects, you’ll find lots of pretty pink embellishments in the Bohemian Dream collection!

I added another little cluster down in the bottom left hand corner of the page to create a third point of interest (and to complete the visual triangle). This one includes a beautiful flair button and a banner from the die cut ephemera pack.

If you’d like to see how this page came together, you can check out my process video…

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! Maybe you’ve been inspired to create a ‘pink’ layout too!
