About Belinda Griffin

Belinda lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne with her husband and their two adorable dogs. An accounting clerk by day and avid scrapbooker by night, she has been crafting for as long as she can remember. She loves nothing more than preserving the memories of life's big and little moments using lots of colour and pretty patterns to create cheerful, bright projects. If she's not scrapping in her spare time, she can usually be found cooking, behind her camera, spending time with loved ones, planning her next holiday, annoying her husband with her holiday plans, obsessing over Disney, decorating her (still fairly new) house or watching her favourite girly tv shows. She also doesn't mind taking a selfie or two occassionally, much to her hubby's embarassment.

Happy New Year everyone!

Welcome to 2017. With the beginning of a new year it’s time for our current term on the design team to finish up. It has been a wonderful almost two years and I’m so grateful to have watched Cocoa Vanilla Studio grow over that time. Zoe is a wonderful designer and I’m sure CVS will continue to shine brighter as we head into 2017.

Before our time is up I wanted to post a selection of my own favourite layouts over my time on the team. These are amongst my all time favourite layouts- CVS is so fun and beautiful to design with, how could they not be?!

It was so hard narrowing down my favourites! I didn’t end up chosing some from each collection as I’d take a lifetime to decide that, but I managaed to chose these overall top 10. It’s been lovely reminiscing, I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings for Cocoa Vanilla Studio!

Thank you all for your support, I’m sure we’ll cross paths again. In the scrapbook world it is never goodbye, just see you soon.

BFFS | Love Always | Belinda Griffin

By | 2016-12-12T23:22:19+00:00 December 15th, 2016|Design Team, Love Always|

Hi All,

I hope everyone is ready for the holiday season, only 10 days until Christmas! I was about to do a Christmas themed layout for today’s post when I came accross a stamp I loved but had never used and very suddenly this layout came to life!

I used the soft and pretty Class Act paper from the Love Always collection as my background, using a stamp to create my own background.

I love this photo of two of my beautiful best friends and I from our wedding- the soft colours in the Love Always collection were perfect for it. To co-ordinate with the black stamps I used some of the black and grey patterned papers and embellishments, alongside a mix of pink ones.

I added a strip of gold paper for a little contrast, to help some of the embellishments stand out. I repeated shapes including the hearts, arrows and cluster of flowers to keep things busy but co-ordinated.

A couple of puffy stickers in the top left corner of the layout helped balance out the embellishment cluster in the bottom right of my photo. Some final soft and pretty embellishments including butterflies, sequins and enamel dots and this girly page was complete!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Have a wonderful holiday season everyone, see you in 2017!

Love Hawaii | Endless Summer | Belinda Griffin

By | 2016-11-29T23:05:48+00:00 December 1st, 2016|Design Team, Endless Summer|

Hi All,

Am I the only one who cannot believe it is already December!? The Christmas season upon us and another year almost over. Which also means it’s a year since my trip to Hawaii- what better excuse to scrap a Hawaiian Endless Summer layout?!

The fun dotty background paper from the Endless Summer collection inspired the circular theme for this layout. I used a large and small punch to punch circles out of both my photos and some of the patterned papers in the collection.

Continuing the theme I pulled a bunch of circular elements from a variety of the embellishments in the collection- flair, ephemera, puffy sticker, woodies, wood veneer and enamel dots all worked in perfectly.

To add a little extra interest I added a few non circle elements- a little enamel heart, a wood veneer heart & ephemera and the adorable puffy sticker flamingo. love-hawaii3-copyLayouts almost always call for titles so a combination of the ephemera word ‘love’ and alphas from collection made for a fun mixed title. A few splatters of mists in co-ordinating colours and the layout was complete.

Best Summer Holiday | Endless Summer | Belinda Griffin

By | 2016-11-14T19:12:02+00:00 November 15th, 2016|Design Team, Endless Summer|

Hi All,

I, along with the rest of the design team, am obsessing over the new Endless Summer collection! The colours are so pretty and the embellishments as adorable as ever. Perfect for those summer photos- or any number of other topics. But for today’s layout I had to start with the obvious- a summer holiday photo!

The embellishments in this collection were just perfect for this photo of a trip to Hawaii. Those flowers look made for a Hawaiian page!

I love my word embellishments and especially using them to create a title. The mixture of wood veneer and embellishment was a fun way to create the ‘Best Summer Holiday Ever’ title for this page.

I’ve used some of all the different embellishments from this collection, I wanted to use every piece- they were all so fitting! Flair, ephemera, puffy stickers, woodies, wood veneer & enamel dots all made their way onto the page in different clusters.

To the bottom right I added some more of the ephemera words alongside my other embellies- you can never have too many words on a layout ;).

Enamel dots on diagonal corners perfectly finished the layout. You can never have too much orange and aqua when it comes to Hawaiian themed pages!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Until next time

Sweet Love | Mixed Collections | Belinda Griffin

By | 2016-10-30T17:04:29+00:00 November 1st, 2016|Cut Files, Design Team, Love Always, Make A Wish|

Hi All,

November already! That means Christmas is NEXT month, just in case anyone was wondering ;). Today I’m back with a bright and colourful layout featuring a 55 year old photo of my beautiful grandparents. They’ve just had their 55th wedding anniversary! I’ve used some of my all time favourite papers from a variety of collections including Make A Wish, Love Always, Totally Rad & Hello Sunshine.

Since I wanted to create a colourful background with all my favourite papers I decided to use a large circle punch to create a fun circle background.

With such a busy background, I went with a small photo & minimal embellishments. I let the embellishments (wood veneer and sticker) work as my title to avoid overdoing the page.

That love sticker is one of my favourite stickers- stripes and florals, how could you not love that?! And those little love buttons are so adorable, so many cute pieces in the bits and pieces packs.

The flower cut file from the Colour Me Happy collection is still one of my all time favourites so of course I had to include one in my main embellishment cluster. And that ephemera flower was the perfect colour for this page.

A few embellishments around the page along with a few flicks of gold paint and this layout was complete.

I loved working with some of my all time favourite papers- but now I have the gorgeous new Endless Summer collection in my hands so I may just have to do another page with some new favourites!

Nieces and Nephew | Hello Lovely | Belinda Griffin

By | 2016-10-15T22:02:40+00:00 October 17th, 2016|Design Team, Hello Lovely|

Hi All,

After yesterday’s new collection excitement, I’m here to throw it back to one of my favourite older collections- Hello Lovely! This month we’re sponsoring the challenge over at Creative Scrappers and we’ve all been playing along as guest designers. My layout today was based on the fantastic sketch for the challenge- we’d love to see you play along too!

I’m down to my very last pieces of Hello Lovely, I’ll be so sad to see it all go- I still swoon over the pretty florals, patterns and soft colours! The papers were perfect for this mix of black and white and colour photos. And those bows <3. The adorable little numbered journal spots in the ephemera pack were perfect for labelling the photos of each of our nieces and nephew.

There are just too many cute embellishments in the Hello Lovely collection that I had to use a mix accross my page. The woodgrain alphas combined with a piece of ephemera created the perfect title, matching in with my background paper.

To balance the top of my page I added a vellum heart, piece of wood veneer, some stickers and another bow- you can never have too many bows right?!

A few drops of gold paint and I was done. It was super fun and easy to use the sketch, no long thought process involved! We’d love to see you play along with this challenge too, don’t forget to stop by our facebook page and share if you do.

Until next time,

Love and Travel | Make A Wish | Belinda Griffin

By | 2016-09-30T22:56:23+00:00 October 1st, 2016|Design Team, Make A Wish|

Hi All,

Belinda back with you to start off October! This week has been absolutely hectic for me, I’ve barely been home, but I really wanted to scrap. I didn’t have time to dedicate a few hours like I normally would, but still wanted to do something a little creative after long days staring at numbers and computers! So I challenged myself to create a 12 x 12 layout in under 30 minutes. Whilst hubby cooked dinner, I created a page with the gorgeous Make A Wish collection. If you haven’t heard yet, it’s now available in our store HERE!

Lots of layers was the perfect way to keep to my time limit but create a fun and busy page. Of course I went back to my typical subjects for this one and chose travel photos! I then layered up patterned paper with pieces of ephemera, stickers, chipboard etc to create a mixed backing for my photo.

I love the alphas in the Make A Wish collection, and adore the cute ampersand in the ephemera pack so decided to create a title with these and a piece of chipboard. Mixed alphas are a fun way to add some extra interest to a title.

There are so many fun embellishments in the Make A Wish collection so I mixed a whole range of them accross my page: wood veneer, ephemera, stickers, chipboard, enamel dots & puffy stickers. I was nearing the end of my self imposed time frame by this stage, so a few drops of ink and I was done!

Creating within a short timeframe allowed me time to still create even during an incredibly busy week. Perhaps I should try it more often. Give it a shot yourself some time- set yourself a timeframe, grab some of your favourite Cocoa Vanilla Studio supplies and make sure you show us what you create over on our Facebook page!
